Barbara Jane Adams (Hawkins), age 66, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Born on May 14, 1958, in the same city she called home throughout her life, Barbara’s journey was marked by unwavering kindness, deep devotion to family and friends, and a profound love for all living creatures.
Barbara shared nearly 39 cherished years of marriage with her beloved husband, Leo Adams. Their enduring partnership stood as a testament to mutual respect, love, and shared joy. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Robert Hawkins and her extended family by marriage, Ann Hobbs, Rose Vokoun, Meg Fertig, Steff and Terry Myers, Pam and Steve Mesropian, and Valerie and Steve Cook, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were enriched by her warmth and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her father Millard Hawkins, mother Mary Neal Hawkins; her father-in-law Andrew Adams; mothers-in-law, Harriet Plumeau Adams and Nancy Cicero Adams; and brothers-in-law, Roger Hobbs and John Vokoun.
Barbara’s compassion extended far beyond the human world. A devoted animal lover, she found joy and companionship in the many furry friends who shared her life. It brings comfort to imagine them waiting patiently at the end of the rainbow bridge to greet her once more.
Her legacy is one of gentleness and grace—marked by acts of kindness that touched both people and animals alike. Those who knew Barbara will remember her for the quiet strength she carried through life and the care she offered so freely to others.
