Anita Sue Woods
9/30/1939 - 1/14/2025
Anita Sue Woods (Worsley), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the age of 85.
Anita was born on September 30, 1939, in Liberal, Missouri, to John and Mary Worsley. She grew up on her family’s farm in Triumph, Illinois, where she developed a strong work ethic, a deep faith in the Lord, and an appreciation for the simple joys of farm life. Active in her church and choir during her youth, Anita graduated from Triumph High School before attending Illinois State University to study music.
After college, Anita returned home and worked as a secretary at the local co-op. It was at Mendota Bible Church that she met Billy Woods, a widower with four children. The two quickly fell in love and were married on June 4, 1966. Anita embraced her role as a mother to Billy’s children—Jeff, Lisa, Lori, and Judy—and later welcomed their son John in 1975. Together, they built a loving home filled with faith and family.
Anita also worked in sales but found her greatest joy in being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always making them feel special during holidays, sleep overs and birthdays. Anita enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, drinking coffee with Bill every morning while watching the squirrels and birds at her feeders. After losing her beloved Billy in 2019, Anita faced the challenges of dementia. Though the disease took her memories, it never dimmed her joy or love for life. She always had a smile on her face.
Anita is survived by her children Jeff Woods (Deana), Lisa Upshaw, Lori Reveal (Jim), Judy Wanner (Jim), and John Woods (Melissa); grandchildren Matt Woods, Elisha Brinkmann (Jason), Megan Koch (Adam), Robert Lanford (Kayla), Christopher Olivier, Dana Olivier, Sydney Woods, Emily Woods, and Sophie Woods; and great-grandchildren Michael Brinkmann, Colton Koch, Ethan Brinkmann, Gracie Woods, Austin Olivier, Grant Brinkmann, Halli Lanford and Carter Lanford. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Worsley; husband Billy Woods; and grandson Michael Woods.
Anita will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
