Mandy (Amanda ) Branigan was born August 20, 1938 in Duckhill Mississippi to Rev. James T Beck and Emma Beck.She was the eleventh of fourteen children. The family moved to Omaha in 1943 where Amanda attended Omaha Public grade school,Tech High as well as completing a couple of semesters at Creighton University, before leaving Omaha for seven years. Amanda attended Salem Baptist Church where she was baptized at an early age.She was appointed as a mother of the church and served faithfully under the leadership of Dr. J.C. Wade Sr.,Dr. Maurice Watson and Dr. Selwyn Q Bachus until her health failed. June 19, 1971 she was united in marriage to Willie J. Branigan and together they raised four children.Amanda and her family traveled overseas to several countries due to her husband serving in the U.S. Airforce.After a tour of seven years, they returned to Omaha. Amanda was a loving,caring,beautiful wife, mother, mother-In-law and grandmother.She always had a big loving smile for everyone she encountered.She was called grandma by many who knew her.She will be missed greatly by everyone she loved, but she is now with her God. Life well lived, goodnight mother,grandmother,sister,friend. Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. James T Beck and Emma Beck, husband Wille J Branigan, daughter Valda Beck Johnson, siblings Frank,James,Minnie,Lizzie,Carlean,Ruby,Tennie,Olean,Hattie,Henrietta,Emma Jean,Lillie. Sister-in-laws, Katherine Roberts (Arthur),Josephine Smith,and Gloria Harris, all of St. Louis Mo.Granddaughter Antionata Sanders, greatgranddaughter Ja’Briana Montgomery, greatgrandson,Trevion Sanders. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Charles Reed (Rita), Tony Reed, daughter Laurie Alvoid (Ron), sister, Katie Lofton, grandkids, Rev. Tony Sanders (Shawntrice), Charles Reed IV, Raynard Jordan, Lakica Reed,Marcia Andersen (Dennis) Nia Jordan, Brandy Montgomery (Jeff), brother-in-law, Vincent Branigan of St. Louis Mo, 19 great grandchildren, two great great grandsons.
