Kaspar, Allen E.

7/30/1927 - 7/31/2024

Allen E. Kaspar was born in Wahoo, NE, to Louis and Bertha. They lived on a farm established in 1928, in Prague NE. Allen and his oldest brother Elmer (Bob) worked hard on the farm growing crops and taking care of livestock. In their spare time they played baseball, using a tree
branch for a bat. Even in his younger years, family was very important to Allen, he often spent time with his cousins Ron and Ken Vavrina.

Allen graduated from Prague High School in 1945. After graduation one of Allen’s favorite pastimes was going to the dance hall, often joined by a
young lady, named Elaine. They married in 1948 and stayed married for 76 years. In those years they had 7 children Mike, Richard (deceased as an infant.) Ken, Karen (deceased), Ron, Marsha (deceased as an infant) and Tim.

Allen continued to work on the farm, and in 1960 took an additional job at Western Electric in Millard Ne to support his family. The family moved to
Millard in 1963. Three of his children married and he had 10 grandchildren. Ken/Linda had Matt & Jill. Ron/Janet had Jason & Michaela, Tim/Melissa had Jacob, Josh, & Joey. In 2007 Jill and Joe made Allen a great grandfather to Kylie, followed by Tyson in 2011. Michaela and Glenn added two more great-grandkids, Penelope in 2021 and Bentley In 2023.

Allen retired from Western Electric in 1990, but he never gave up farming or his John Deere tractor. Even though he wasn’t going to work everyday, he still kept very busy, his family was his life. It would be a rare day he wasn’t at the grandkid’s sports games, school events or just visiting them at their house. He taught them how to ride a bike, tend a garden, mow the grass, drive a car, watch for
rain clouds, and the pleasure of eating a Runza, amongst many other things. Allen always made sure the grandkids knew he loved them all equally, especially when it came to opening presents at Christmas time.

He emphasized hard work and the importance of going to church. He led by example. He went to church every week, often sharing his Catholic beliefs with his family. He stayed faithful to the end watching church on TV when he could no longer go.

At Sunday family get- togethers Allen loved eating dilly bars, talking about weather and politics, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and dissecting Saturday’s Husker game.

Allen spent 97 years of his life reflecting Faith, hard work and the importance of family and friends. His family and friends will deeply miss seeing his big smile every Sunday afternoon.
