Alfred James Gonzales was born in McCook, Nebraska to parents James “Peter” and Mary on October 18, 1933. He was the last survivor of eleven children. He was a proud Navy man and later worked for Duncan Hines Food Company for 20 years, and ended his career at Omaha Public Schools where he retired at the age of eighty. He and his wife, Shirley, were married for nearly 50 years and have six children, Shelly (John) Shanahan, Chris (Richard) Shanahan, Deb (Michael) Lee, Jim (Belle) Gonzales, Linda Schleisman, and Mike Gonzales, 13 grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Alissa, Zach, Nick, Vanessa, Ethan, Chloe, Cassie, T.J., Samantha, Aiden, and Alivia, and one great grandchild, Florence. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren and the company of friends in the senior living community in which he lived. He is preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings, and his wife, Shirley Celebration on Alfed's Life will be held 10:30am., Friday, August 9, 2024 with a visitation starting 9:30am., all at Braman Mortuary 72nd street Chapel. Graveside 11:30am, Friday, August 9, 2024 at Evergreen Memorial Park.
