SFC Alan R. Stahl, Army Retired Alan Richard Stahl, 70, of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away in the comfort of his home on April 4th, 2020 surrounded by his family. Alan is survived by his wife of 49 years Nancy, his 3 sons Alan, David and Scott, his daughter DeeDee, 4 grandsons Daniel, Nathan, Michael and Tyler, 3 granddaughters Katrina, Carle Jordan and Karissa and great-grandson Ryker and another on the way, siblings Linda Keller and Tommy as well as all his nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his brother Sonny and his two sisters Billie and Judy. Al (aka Duggie) met his wife Nancy when they were 11 and 9 respectively. They married May 23rd, 1970.Al proudly served 21 years in the US Army as a drill sergeant 5 times, a paratrooper and with the Corp of Engineers. He did a 13 month tour in Vietnam.He retired from the military in 1989 to spend more time with his family.When he wasn’t working, Al loved to go camping, boating and fishing.After returning from the workforce completely, he devoted his time to his family, especially his grandchildren.7 years ago, he was diagnosed with dementia and declined until succumbing to a stroke and spending his remaining days at in-home hospice. The family would love to give a special thanks and deepest gratitude to St. Croix Hospice nurses and aides that helped during his final few weeks. A private service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 11:00am at Braman Mortuary (72 St. Chapel).
