He took great pride in his work and never quit until the job was done. Alan loved his family and friends. He gladly went out of his way to help those he cared about. Whether it was a car that needed to be fixed, a leaky faucet, or a home improvement project, Alan would be there to help no questions asked. All he would take in return was a cold beer and maybe some of his mother-in-law’s special casseroles! Alan loved the outdoors, especially sitting in the boat on the lake. He loved to hunt, but his favorite past-time was fishing. He was never happier than when he had a fishing pole in his hand but happier even with a fish on the line. He didn’t even mind when his wife Sheri caught a bigger fish! Alan knew how to enjoy life and had a great sense of humor. Everybody that knew him would say he was a kind and gentle person. He will forever be in our hearts. Celebration of Alan’s Life: Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at 12:00pm at Union Park Presbyterian Church (1307 Thompson Ave. Des Moines, IA 50316).
