Agnes Stillmock

January 18, 1929 — April 4, 2018

AGNES “AGGIE” (REZAC) STILLMOCK Born in Omaha, January 18, 1929, Agnes grew up near Touhy, NE along with her younger siblings, Rose and Jim. She was a self-described tomboy who enjoyed the outdoors. After graduating from Benson High School in 1947, Agnes worked as an inventory clerk at Warren-Douglas Chemical Company. Agnes married Richard “Rip” Stillmock at St. Bernard’s Church in Omaha on October 15, 1949. They met just after Rip got out of the Marine Corps, while he was working on his bricklayer apprenticeship. The couple enjoyed bowling, taking walks, and “window shopping” in downtown Omaha. They soon had their first child. While Rip wanted 12 children, they had five—Barbara, Patti, Beth, Richard, and Carm. Agnes spent her children’s early years as a stay at home mom. She was a masterful cook and seamstress. She sewed clothes and made elaborate costumes and birthday cakes for her children, and later on, for her grandchildren. Agnes was also a 4-H leader and Girl Scout troop co-leader. Additionally, she and Rip volunteered at their church. After Rip passed away in 1985 after 35 years of marriage, Agnes worked as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. She had a sense of adventure and racked up quite a few frequent flier miles after retiring. The family joked that “Now that Agnes is retired, she is never home anymore!” Agnes poured countless hours into creating and editing a book about her life. The resulting 303 pages are an enduring gift for all her loved ones to cherish. The following excerpt from Agnes’s book, I Married a Polish Bricklayer, is taken from the chapter titled, “How I Wish to be Remembered” Loving and Caring Loving my husband and our five children—Barbara, Patti, Beth, Richard, and Carm—ten grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy, Lynda, Geri, Nick, Chelsea, Amanda, Brad, Andy, and Renee. My other sons and daughter-in-laws are the greatest; Garry, Lonnie, Dave, and Martha. My family is the most important thing to me. As a Nice Grandmother I relish the hours I spent with my grandkids. Reading to them when they were little, playing with them- oh, we had many card games, taking them to movies, driving golf balls, going out to eat, vacations, and trips. And taking care of them when they were babies, when their Mom and Dad went on trips, during illness, and just when they needed a hand, like driving to piano lessons, and many more joyful hours, including the tradition of decorating gingerbread houses at Christmastime and coloring Easter eggs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Agnes was preceded in death by husband Richard, son Richard, brother James Rezac; She is survived by her Daughters: Barbara Motsenbocker, Patricia (Lonnie) Cowher, Elizabeth (Garry) Morgan, Carm (David) Johnson; Sister RoseMarie Cadek; 8 Grandchildren & 3 Great Grandchildren; Many other relatives & friends Visitation: Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 4-6:00pm, with a rosary at 5PM, all at Braman Mortuary (72 St. Chapel).
