Ada Mae Mahrt

June 27, 1932 — February 17, 2025

Ada went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2025. Her life was an embodiment of Proverbs 31: 28, 30. “Her children rise and call her blessed… a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

Ada was born in Winnebago, NE on June 27, 1932 to Harry and Ada Chamberlain. She was the youngest of 11 children. She graduated from Winnebago HS in 1949 and moved to Sioux City, IA where she met the love of her life, Don Mahrt. They married in 1952 before Don was stationed in the Korean War. They settled in Omaha, NE in the mid 1950s. Ada worked various jobs over the years but enjoyed school cafeteria work the most. She liked to cook and enjoyed interacting with the students. Her greatest joy was taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren. Whether it be for a week long visit in the summer or just a sleepover at her home, she never missed an opportunity to be with the grandkids. She poured her love, kindness and wisdom into each one.

Ada is survived by two children Steve (Vickie) Mahrt (Illinois) and Kathy (Mike) McNeill (Florida). Six grandchildren: Abby (Dathan) Powell, Betsy (Jerome) Elver, Will (Christy) Mahrt, Jacob McNeill, Krista McNeill and Jackson Mcneill, and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Don Mahrt, daughter Carol Mahrt, her parents and
siblings.
